What does diamond synthesis mean?

Diamond synthesis describes creating diamond material through controlled processes rather than extracting it from a natural deposit. The term covers gem crystals, industrial crystals, plates, films, powders and research structures with very different specifications.

How do HPHT and CVD fit into the method map?

HPHT stabilizes diamond growth around a seed using high pressure and temperature. CVD uses activated gas-phase carbon species to deposit diamond on a seed or substrate.
